Lower Back Pain

You don’t have to suffer with lower back pain

Back pain is a common occurrence, but it can be prevented or treated easily by your chiropractor. Many research projects show conservative chiropractic treatment is often more effective than back surgery and significantly safer. Your chiropractor is an expert at using specific chiropractic adjustments to reduce lower back pain and improve spinal function.

What causes of lower back pain?

lower back painMany of the pain sensing nerves of the spine are in the facet joints. These joints are similar to interlocking fingers at the back of each spinal bone. The normally smooth surfaces on which these joins glide can become rough, irritated, and inflamed. This may be due to some type of trauma or strain. Sometimes this is referred to as, “throwing out your back” or simply feeling aches and pains.

You have a number of treatment options

Surgical treatment

Many individuals with chronic back pain may opt for surgical treatment. This often involves removing facet joints and exposing the spinal cord. Another cause of lower back pain can be a bulging or herniated disc that puts pressure on the spinal cord or nerve. The result can be numbness, tingling, or pain down the leg. Cutting away the herniated disc tissue can permanently alter its ability to separate and cushion the adjacent bones. This treatment may unfortunately fail to address the underlying structural cause of the problem.

Chiropractic approach

The chiropractic approach is designed to hep restore normal motion and position of the affected spinal bones using specific chiropractic adjustments. This simple, yet highly effective approach, has been documented in numerous research studies. It has also helped many patients avoid risky back surgery.
